That’s Right! You read that correctly.
You can listen to the first installment of SCF right now for free on soundcloud.
The Halton Rock Group SCF (Silver Creek Folk) have made it available for listening and streaming on sound cloud. EP1 contains 5 original tunes that you may have already heard live at our shows. However, you may be pleasantly surprised at how these same tunes turn out when mixed down from the studio sessions.
Sure the SCF live show is caked with energy and keeps your bouncing and singing along the entire time. It’s also true that you cannot escape the beautiful immersion of sound that washes over you when you’re right there in person. But I say strap on your best headphones or blast this EP through your biggest baddest speakers and see how subtle and intricate SCF can be in the studio. Silver Creek Folk’s EP1 is packed with repeat listening material. I am sure you will hear new exciting things you missed on your first couple of listens. Sit down in a dark room, close your eyes and use your favorite headphones and you may find yourself on a different world, each constructed and orchestrated by the current track you are listening to.
Silver Creek Folk Releases single from upcoming EP 1
Wednesday, 25 November 2015 17:07
It’s an exciting day as Silver Creek Folk have released an exclusive single through Exclaim.ca! Exclaim had a lot of nice things to say about the single “Don’t Go Alone” calling it a, ” foot-stomping, attention-grabbing good time with a hint of rugged outdoorsiness thrown in for good measure”. We at HK were glad to give exclaim.ca the first release and we’re even happier they loved it!
See the article here: http://exclaim.ca/music/article/silver_creek_folk-dont_go_alone

SCF Lands @ H•K
Wednesday, 11 November 2015 23:41
The newest band to grace the humble roster of H•K Records is none other than Silver Creek Folk. SCF is a 5 piece rock band from Silver Creek Ontario, consisting of Ben Hannah, Kyle Hannah, Jordan MacKinnon, Collette Andrea, and Steve Baker (familiar names when it comes to H•K studio and its appendages).
“We have a good time, and our music reflects that” says Ben, “it’s Rock n Roll, you live it, and the music writes itself”. The band has been busy playing shows all over Ontario spreading “truth” one show at a time. “We are just, letting people know that it’s okay to have a good time…..and we do, so I think that is part of the reason why we get such a great response” mentions Kyle. “There is just a great vibe in the band, you know?” adds Collette, when asked what was next for SCF Steve Baker replied “for The Folk? You never know, we are just going to keep moving forward”.
The band has finished their debut EP which is set to be released on December 11th 2015 at Hard Luck bar in Toronto. They plan on following up with a small tour to promote the release of the new record. “Good tunes, and a good time” is how Jordan Mackinnon responded when asked how he would describe the band, “Just check it out” he adds. Look out for SCF in a town near you, and check back here in December for the release of their debut record.Until then enjoy this small video of SCF @ the legendary Bovine in Toronto, and remember that ‘Folk’ just means people.
Here at Hannah•Kin we not only like to casually sip on H•K Matcha tea throughout the day, but we also like to diversify the uses of the green powder as much as possible. This recipe includes the nutritional benefits of Matcha, plus a nice addition of colour and sweetness to your peanut butter. Here is a simple recipe for Homemade H•K Matcha Peanut Butter, or “P.Boose”, for short.
2 Cups of unsalted peanuts (salted peanuts optional)
2 Teaspoons of peanut oil (or another neutral tasting oil [vegetable oil])
2 Teaspoons of honey (or to taste – raw recommended)
1 Teaspoon of raw cocoa
2 Pinches of cinnamon (or to taste)
Blender or food processor
The Run Down:
Heat the oven up to 350º, place 2 cups of peanuts on a cooking tray and throw them in the oven for 10 minutes. Shake them around two or three times during the 10 minutes to ensure they do not burn. Take them out and let them cool to room temperature.
Place the peanuts in a food processor or blender with other ingredients and blend to desired consistency.
Get a banana, or piece of toast and enjoy.
2 Cups of Peanuts
2 Teaspoons of Peanut Oil
H•K Matcha and Peanuts
H•K Matcha and Blender
Match P.Boose on a Sleek Banana
